Transfer news: Dominique Janssen knows where she's headed. Will she realign with Vivianne Miedema?
The Oranje Leeuwin and VfL Wolfsburg defender made clear she's already in a comfortable position to sign with a new club.1 Rumor has it she's following former Wolfsburg player Jill Roord's to play for Manchester City.2
This is a likely scenario because we've seen two defenders leave the club already. Steph Houghton, a former English international, has retired from football. Esmee Morgan, an English international, is headed to the United States. Morgan and Houghton were benched a lot of last season. But City is in need for some experience and depth in the squad because they're heading towards a packed season with the Champions League added to their schedule.
There has been no confirmation yet, but considering Janssen is happy about her new club, it might suggest it's one of the bigger clubs. She previously mentioned she wanted to go back to the WSL, where she earlier played for Arsenal. Alongside the rumors that Manchester City is picking up Vivianne Miedema from Arsenal, it could be a real Dutch/Arsenal reunion at Manchester City. Janssen, Roord, and Miedema all have played for the Gunners.
